A real war starts when you try to fight for a talented candidate with no capacity to offer a competitive salary, not having a renowned employer brand, not to mention other risks associated with working at a startup vs established organization incl. the lack of adequate work-life balance among other challenges. In such circumstances, the only way to be somewhat competitive as an employer is to be creative.
